Ladies U-Knighted
Greetings! Labor Day is upon us and the summer is about over. Our Ladies U-Knighted meeting took place on Aug 5 and we are very excited about some upcoming events this fall.
Since I mentioned Labor Day, I want to remind you to stop by the Ladies U-Knighted table on Labor Day, where we will have something for everyone. Along with our baked goods, we will be selling watermelon for children of all ages. Try your luck at the 50/50 raffle. Christmas is right around the corner. Perhaps you would like to start your Christmas shopping on Labor Day. We will be selling Christmas ornaments and cookbooks. In addition, we have beautiful prints for sale of the Old Council Home, painted by our own LUK Publicity officer, Meredith Dittmar. Please note LUK’s table will be open from 2:00 – 6:00.
One of the tenets of Ladies U-Knighted is to help those in need. Last April, LUK had a baby shower to support Elizabeth House, a project sponsored by St. Charles Catholic Church that assists unwed mothers. Recently we received a Certificate of Appreciation in honor of “The Ladies U-Knighted for your dedication to young mothers and children of Borromeo Housing’s Elizabeth House.” Along with the certificate was a letter stating “In one short afternoon you touched the lives of our young moms and impressed upon our board members and staff the generosity of the Ladies U-Knighted Community.” Our success was measured by the smiles on the young women’s faces during the entire afternoon. We look forward to making this an annual event.
SAVE THE DATE!!!! Start putting on your thinking caps for a great Halloween costume. As you know, LUK sponsors an annual Adults only Halloween party at the Old Council Home. This year’s party will be held on Saturday, Oct 30 beginning at 9:00 p.m. As always, there will be free food, cash bar, costume contest, and a live band. This is an event that you don’t want to miss.
Looking for new members! We meet at 7:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month at the K of C Old Council Home, 5115 Little Falls Road, Arlington, VA. Membership is open to any woman who is willing to help those in need, provide excellence in many activities, whether religious, charitable, or social, and have fun.
