December Knight Life Article

Greetings!  Thanksgiving is upon us and before long, it will be Christmas! Time sure flies when you are having fun. That’s what we like to do here at LUK – have fun!!!

Speaking of fun . . . I hope you found time to stop by the Tenth Annual Halloween Party.  The Old Council Home was decorated spectacularly and the costumes, as always, were fantastic. Everyone seemed to have fun, seeing old friends, checking out costumes, and dancing to MS Project. Overall, I consider this another successful event.  At midnight, we had the judging of the best Halloween costumes. Please check out the photo of the winners in this issue of the Knight Life.

I want to thank everyone that helped to make this party a success by decorating, setting up, cooking food, bartending, dressing up, and cleaning up. Thanks to the Knights that moved all of the decorations down from and back to the attic.  Special thanks to PGK Art Gamotis, aka “the Webmaster,” who went out of his way arranging his schedule to create magic with webbing. Because he had to work the night we planned to decorate, he volunteered to decorate the front hall ceilings and stairs on his own.  Art is LUK’s Knight of the Month! As I always say, many hands make light work. We, once again, proved that LUK, the EDW K of C, and the Columbus Club make a great team.

It is time to prepare for the annual Thanksgiving dinner to benefit the less fortunate citizens located in the Arlington community and the surrounding areas. We are looking for volunteers to donate cooked turkeys for this very worthwhile venture. If you would like to help, please drop off a cooked (unstuffed) twenty-pound turkey from November 25-27 at the Columbus Club. For more information, please contact Marijo Galvin @ 703-532-8498.

LUK is sponsoring the annual EDW Christmas Tree Decorating event on Saturday, November 30 beginning at 7:00 p.m. Everyone, young and old, are invited. Please stop by and bring the kids to turn the Old Council Home into a Christmas wonderland.  Please bring a new Christmas ornament to spruce up the tree. If you are looking to downsize your old decorations and trying to find a new home for them, please contact Katie McCarthy.  This is a traditional family event, so please grab the kids and stop by. Snacks will be served!

LUK is having its annual Christmas party meeting on Thursday, December 5. All LUK members (past and present), friends of LUK, and potential new members are welcome to attend. Everyone who wants to participate in the Christmas gift exchange is asked to bring a wrapped gift worth $20.  This is a great meeting for potential members to attend.

Please join Ladies U-Knighted in wishing a very happy birthday to . . . me, your LUK Vice President, Jo Wood (Dec 24). I would like to take this time to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving and a Blessed Christmas.  Please take some time out of your busy schedules to reflect on the reason for all of these special holidays.  Be safe and have fun.
